Ale Hop, known for her bold approach to sound and performance, presents The Life of Insects, a new body of work that blends electronic and electroacoustic composition, noise, ambient, pop experimentation, and an intricate vocabulary of extended guitar techniques and real-time sampling.

Her interdisciplinary practice spans immersive multichannel installations, live performances, sound sculptures, video, 3D, academic publications, and sound design for film, theater, and dance. Her music is marked by a physically intense performance style and a sonic language that defies conventional boundaries.

Conceived during a month-long creative process in which the composer lived among insects in her Berlin studio — building terrariums and recording sounds for a film project — The Life of Insects is not a documentary record of that experience. Instead, the album constructs a fictional sound world inspired by that proximity, using abstract composition and imagined narrative to portray insect life from a speculative perspective.

The album’s sound design is primarily built from layers of electric guitar textures, processed to evoke environmental and atmospheric elements, crafting immersive sonic landscapes that invite active listening and narrative reconstruction.
