Literature is a vast area where numerous intellectuals have marked their excellence in various forms of expressions. We need to develop a particular attitude to understand the ins and outs of their works. It is a naked truth that to read between the lines of their work is certainly not a cake walk. It takes a lot of energy, self motivation, and an exact attitude to understand them properly. As Coleridge says, “It is the Secondary Imagination which distinguishes a writer from the common man”. We also require at least the tint of that secondary imagination in order to understand them. Do we have that Secondary Imagination? This question made me ponder over the way our students are dealing with Literature. This has provided the spark to me to do something significant in the field of English literature.
Dear Students, You will have to feel the carved edges of Grecian Urn, you will have to imagine as strongly as Coleridge did, and be as critical as Dr. Johnson while analysing works in order to draw the aesthetic pleasure in art and Literature.
