Soft, juicy paneer cubes cooked in a rich and flavorful onion-tomato gravy with fresh green peas and aromatic spices. This easy homemade Matar Paneer recipe gives you perfect restaurant-style taste with simple ingredients. Serve hot with roti, paratha or rice for a comforting and delicious meal.
Ingredients:
Salt: 1 Tbsp (For Paneer soaking)
Turmeric: ½ Tsp (For Paneer soaking)
Tomatoes: 4 Medium
Onions: 4 Medium
Ginger: 1 Inch
Garlic Cloves: 8–10
Paneer: 400 gms
Green Peas: 1 Cup
Oil: 6 Tbsp (4 for frying, 2 for tadka)
Cumin Seeds: 1 Tsp
Bay Leaves: 2
Green Cardamom: 2
Black Peppercorns: 10–12
Cinnamon: 1 Inch
Cloves: 2
Coriander Powder: 1 Tsp
Red Chilli Powder: 1 Tsp
Kashmiri Chilli Powder: 1 Tsp
Kitchen King Masala: 1 Tsp
Salt: 2 Tsp
Turmeric: ½ Tsp
Garam Masala: ½ Tsp
Kasuri Methi: 1 Tbsp
Fresh Coriander.
Method:
Cut paneer into cubes and lightly fry until golden.
Soak in warm salted turmeric water.
In the same oil add cumin and whole spices. Sauté ginger garlic onions and tomatoes until soft. Cool and grind to a smooth paste.
Mix all powdered spices with little water.
Heat oil add bay leaf and green chillies then cook the spice paste until oil releases.
Add ground paste and cook well.
Stir in green peas and cook covered until soft.
Add paneer, water and garam masala.
Simmer 3–4 minutes. Finish with kasuri methi and fresh coriander.
Serve hot.
