Here a Black and Yellow Mud Dauber Wasp is making its nest. Due to the continuous lockdown my car was idle since long time. So this wasp is making its nest on the windscreen wiper of my car.
When I noticed this activity it had made two chambers for the nest.One was completed and closed after stacking with insects. The second one was completed and ready for filling . After filling it this also was closed and started making a third one. It was alo completed and kept ready for filling.
They actually capture and paralyze the prey and dump it inside the chambers and lay their eggs on these insects. Females build the nests,and hunt to feed the young ones. They prey on small spiders. Adults of both sexes mostly feed on flower nector, but they stock their nests with spiders to feed their offspring.
