There was once a place in India where experts openly said, “A railway line here is impossible.”
On one side were the violent waves of the Arabian Sea, on the other the steep, rock-hard Sahyadri mountains. Dense forests, unstable land, and nonstop heavy rainfall made every survey report declare the project too risky, too expensive, and nearly impossible to complete.
But India didn’t give up. 💪

From this determination was born the Konkan Railway—a 760 km long engineering marvel connecting Maharashtra, Goa, and Karnataka. This single project required the construction of more than 60 tunnels and over 2,000 bridges. Mountains were cut, land kept sinking, and workers continued even during relentless rains.
