Improvisation using EBow on a prepared guitar. The prepared is an arched ring (3D printed) that couples together the 3rd and 5th strings. The additional mass of the preparation (and the coupled string) makes the strings inharmonic (making the gong-like sound). And because they're coupled together, altering the length of one string (by fretting a note) can alter the timbre and pitch of the other.
The performance here is about exploring the indeterminacy of moving the EBow across the tipping point between the two strong harmonics on the string, and altering the relationship further with fretted notes.
Guitar is tuned in a harmonic series scordatura, all strings are (microtonally tuned) octave transpositions of partials of the low E string. E, G# (5th), D (7th), F# (9th), A# (11th), E. That said, the preparation makes this kinda meaningless...
