Описание: Jonathan Marks made the documentary for the Netwerk Event Meeting in Eindhoven, the Netherlands on April 4, 2023 which was held on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the first successful treatment of a kidney patient with an artificial kidney developed by Dr. Willem Kolff. The event was organized by the Dutch Kidney Foundation in collaboration with the Willem Kolff Foundation and IMEC Eindhoven. The video starts with welcoming remarks by the Mayor of Kampen, Sander de Rouwe. It contains a summary of Kolff’s early years in Kampen, then goes to an interview with Dr. Scribner, highlights the much higher use of home dialysis in the 1970’s (including the Friedmann suitcase kidney) and the move towards in-centre dialysis after altered reimbursement rules made that commercially more attractive for the providers. It then shows the recordings with NextKidney that Home Dialyzors United so kindly recorded during ASN Kidney Week in November 2022. Then the Decade of the Kidney is Highlighted by AAKP, US Congressman Larry Bucshon, and EU Parliament member Hilde Vautmans. The movie ends with a plea for an international consortium that includes entrepreneurs. At the very end, a QR-code is visible which enables free download of a special NATURE OUTLOOK issue on Chronic Kidney Disease.
