What Does Doubling Guitar Parts (and Vocals) Really Do?

Описание: Today I am exploring doubling not only guitar parts but vocals too. Musicians have been known to double their guitar parts for decades. Jimmy Page from Led Zeppelin is a great example of this. He would record the same part not twice but eight or more times. I do not go that extreme with it, but I do show you what doubling guitars with electric and acoustic guitars sounds like.

People have also been doubling vocals for decades. John Lennon was a great example of this which would inspire Nirvana to do the same and of course then Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters. This a tool used to thicken up the sound and make it a bit more stereo. It is also very impactful and heavy in Rock music.
