Hi, John with etrailer. Today, we're gonna show you how to install the Pewag square link snow tire chains on our 2023 Chevrolet Suburban. So these are gonna be a fairly aggressive ladder style snow chain for this 2023 Chevy Suburban. This tire size is a 265/65, 18. So the ladder style chains are definitely gonna be better for stopping and starting, but you're gonna feel them going down the road. So these square links are made up of a nickel manganese alloy, which are gonna just give you better corrosion resistance.

These chains do have a pretty high profile once they're mounted on the tire, you're gonna wanna watch if you have clearance issues in the back, the front, and on the inside. These chains are sold as a pair. They are heavy and the bag is kind of lightweight. So, if I we're to buy these, I would consider storing them in a tote. We have these installed on the rear axle of our Suburban, but you wanna check your owner's manual before installing tire chains on your vehicle.

Okay, so the first thing you do when you pull these out of the bag is you wanna lay them out straight. You wanna check the links for any twist, any damage, any rust, and you wanna lay them out with the lever facing towards the outside. So as we lay these out, you'll see these hoops have a flat side. This is the side you want facing your tire. So as you go down the road, it'll avoid having these points dig into the rubber.

So, when it comes to installing these, you want to grab towards the middle of these chains, and that'll keep it even as you go up and over the tire and around the back. So once you're under the vehicle, you're gonna have the hook and you're gonna have the link here. These two are gonna snap together. Once we have tension on the backside, then we come around to the front here. We're gonna slide the lever through the link on the chain, lever this over, and lock it into this loose link here.

With this style of chain, this is the only tension that you have on there. So we recommend this style of rubber tensioner that we have here at etrailer. Now, these install much like a star pattern. You're gonna have the hooks facing out and these are gonna take up any additional slack that these chains have. So you can go top and bottom, you can go right to left, however you can do it just to get the tension out. It's a good idea sometimes to keep this lever in behind it, that'll keep it from moving going down the road. Now we have our driver side chains on and tensioned. You're gonna repeat the process on the other side. Just to be on the safe side, you wanna roll forward or backwards a few times, make sure nothing's gonna come loose on you. These are heavy-duty, aggressive chains. If you live in an area that just gets light snow dusting, these aren't the chains for you. But, if you need traction, if you get moderate to heavy snow, if you don't have clearance issues, then these are the right chains for you.
