On one of my personal vehicles — a Land Rover Discovery II — I take on a very large and complex job: removing the engine, disassembling the 4.6L Rover V8, and pinning the cylinder sleeves due to multiple slipped liners.

This video documents the full process, from engine removal to addressing one of the most serious failure modes of the Rover V8. There isn’t much detailed content out there covering this repair, so my goal is to give back to the Land Rover community and help anyone who may be facing the same issue.

I want to be clear: this is a major engine repair. I’m sharing what worked for me, but there may be steps I didn’t perform exactly the way others would. If you attempt this repair, you do so entirely at your own risk. This video is for educational and reference purposes only.
