The Midday Theatre performed their first theatrical production of William Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice directed by Krishna Lavangwala and Vaimani Shah on 4th-5th September, 2021 at Performing Art Centre, Adajan (Surat, Gujarat).
The scene is famously called as the Casket Scene, Act III Scene 2. Bassanio finally makes it through Belmont to woo Portia. The casket scene represents the will left by Portia’s father where the righteous man who chooses the casket with Portia’s portrait in it, could marry her and will love her and value her truly.
