Elkana Geshohe Mwangi was born on April 20, 1972, in Nairobi and passed on March 9, 2026. He was predeceased by John Mwangi and Peris Wangui Mwangi. He is survived by his dear wife Beth, his four children, Gerald, Matthew, Naomi, and Samwel, his siblings Anne Njeri Muriithi, Samuel Maina, David Kinyua, and his many nieces and nephews to include Tony, Ben, Wangui, Njoroge, Susan, Lucy, Comfort, Wangui, Vincent, Mwangi, Abigael & Wamuyu.
Elkana spent his early years in Nairobi before moving to Koru village, where he was raised and began his foundational journey. He started his education in Koru village, where he studied [Pry SCH) until 8th grade. He later joined Kericho High School for his secondary education. Driven by a desire for higher learning, he worked as a casual laborer after high school to raise fees for college. He joined Kenya Highlands Bible College in Kericho, where he successfully acquired a Diploma in Theology.
Later, after relocating to the United States in 2014, he pursued his passion for healthcare. In 2008, he joined Tidewater Training College for his preliminaries, went on to graduate with an Associate Degree in Nursing in 2014 and a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing in 2015, both from Norfolk State University.
Elkana began his professional career as a teacher at Milimani Academy, Kericho. Upon migrating to America in 2004, he worked at 7-Eleven and Atlantic Shores Nursing and Assisted Living. Following his graduation from nursing school, he served in several hospitals both in and out of state, including Chesapeake General. At the time of his demise, he was a dedicated staff member at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
Elkana met and married the love of his life, Beth Njeri Geshohe, in the year 2000 at Full Gospel Church Kenya, Kericho. Their union was blessed with four children: Gerald Mwangi, Mathew Karanja, Samwel Maina, and Naomi Wangui.
Elkana was a devoted member of the Full Gospel Church of Kenya. After relocating to the United States, he joined Bible World Apostolic Church, where he remained a faithful member of the fellowship until his demise. He was a man of deep prayer and wisdom, known for his commitment to reading the Bible.
Elkana was a dreamer—generous, kind, hardworking, and goal-oriented. He was a man of great humor and patience, often sought after for his wise counsel. In his free time, he enjoyed taking walks, watching Asian dramas and shows, and spending time in prayer.
On March 9, 2026, while engaged in one of his favorite pastimes—a morning walk—Elkana was involved in a fatal accident and was promoted to glory at 53 years of age.
The late Elkana Geshohe Mwangi was a pillar of strength for his family and a dedicated professional in the healthcare field. He has left an indelible mark on the lives of many through his kindness, ambition, and faithfulness.

The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown, Great Bridge Chapel on Monday, March 16, 2026 from 6 to 8 p.m. A service will be held at Bible World Church on Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at 11 a.m. with committal rites concluding at Chesapeake Memorial Gardens.
