I Turned My Pokémon Excel Tracker Into a Full Collector App

Several years ago, I started building a Pokémon TCG collection tracker in Excel.

What began as a few spreadsheets slowly became a year-long labour of love: hundreds of set pages, English and Japanese card searches, wish lists, collection tools and even a hidden Pikachu puzzle on the welcome screen. I eventually shared it online, and the response encouraged me to keep imagining what it could become.

That old Excel file was the beginning—but Binder Quest is the next chapter.

Binder Quest rebuilds the original idea as a standalone, browser-based collection experience. The current release covers 335 sets and 36,717 card printings, presented through a visual Set Atlas, Card Pokédex and realistic digital binders.

You can:

⚡ Record individual physical copies
⚡ Track editions, finishes, languages and conditions
⚡ Add grading companies and grades
⚡ Record storage locations, notes and prices paid
⚡ Build completely custom themed binders
⚡ Plan wanted cards alongside cards you already own
⚡ Catalogue sealed products, plushies and other collectibles
⚡ Complete sets and fill your Trophy Room
⚡ Export your collection and carry it into future updates

Your collection is stored locally on your own computer. No account is required, and the app runs from one standalone HTML file. An internet connection is only needed for live card artwork and external source links.

I wanted Binder Quest to feel like more than a database. Collecting Pokémon cards is about memories, favourite Pokémon, personal goals and the excitement of completing something you care about. This project is my attempt to capture that feeling.

The original Excel tracker still lives inside Binder Quest’s DNA—and there may even be a familiar hidden Pikachu waiting somewhere. 👀
