Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology (SIST), formerly known as Sathyabama University is one of the oldest universities in the country. It is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC), received ISO 9001:2008 certification and has been accredited by the NAAC with Grade ‘A++’. In the NIRF 2024 Ranking, Sathyabama University was ranked 85 in the 'Overall' category, and 31 ranks were achieved by The Week 2024. SIST has signed MoUs with national and international universities such as UNINT, NITTTR Chennai, University of Western Australia, and Taylor's University, among others to strengthen its academic.

Established in 1987, Sathyabama University is a private, STEM-intensive, and deemed university. Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology has more than 15 departments that collectively offer more than 100 courses at UG, PG, and doctoral levels. All these courses are NBA & UGC-approved and are offered across various fields, including Engineering, Building and Environment, Management Studies, Science & Humanities, and Law, among others. Popular courses at Sathyabama University include BE/ BTech, BSc, MTech, and MBA. Sathyabama University admission to BTech is done through the JEE Mains and SAEEE entrance examinations followed by counselling. MBA and MCA admissions are based on the CAT, MAT, CMAT, XAT, and Sathyabama Entrance Exam scores.
