Описание: Significant Figures| Significant Figures Rules Class 9. What are significant figures and what are the rules for a digit to be significant? In this lecture I have discussed in detail About significant figures and the rules to specify significant figures in a measurement. The concept of significant figures is very important in physics. Therefore it is very important to understand the rules through which digits are declared significant.
My name is Muhammad Nazir and this is my channel ''Lectures of Physics". This channel contains lectures of physics on class 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th in easy way.
This video is about class 9 physics. In this lecture I have discussed in detail about significant figures and the rules for a digit to be significant. The word significant means meaningful or useful.
Significant digits are meaningful and useful in the sense that they provide information about the correctness of a value in a measurement. Significant figures contribute to the degree of accuracy of a measurement. This excludes the the leading and trailing zeros and some other digits which we will explain in the lecture. Significant figures play a very important role in physical measurements. From significant figures we estimate the accuracy of a measurement. Significant figures are defined as
the number of accurately known digits and the first doubtful digit in a measurement are called significant figures. Now how will we identify exactly known digits and the first doubtful digit in a measurement. This depends up on the least count of the measuring instrument. The number of significant figures depends up on the least count of the measuring instrument. Least count is the minimum measurement which can be made by a measuring instrument . If we decrease the least count of the measuring instrument, the number of significant figures will be increased and hence accuracy of the measurement will also be increased.
Now how will we identify significant figures in a measurement. There are some rules though which we can identify the significant figures. The general rules for the significant figures are the following.
