Описание: The dot application is considered one of the safer line types, being part of the profiled road markings, also known as type 2 markings. The dot marking type is more frequently used these days because of the increased road safety this kind of line provides.

The 2-component DOT equipment

The 2-component dot equipment consists of a basic module, with 6 dots in a row. If you need to make wider lines there is a possibility to add additional modules one by one, to obtain the wanted line width.
If you have the 30 cm dot head, consisting of a basic module + 12 additional modules, you can easily reduce the width of the line by inserting dividing plates between the dot elements. This dividing plate will block the material from going into the dot elements located beyond the dividing plate. You only have to loosen the connection screw, then you can slide the dividing plate inside. Also cleaning modules are inserted for proper functioning of the equipment for basic module with more than 13 dots this requires a cleaning module.

Specifications of dot material and application

The 2-component (98:2) dot equipment can apply line widths between 10-30 cm. The profiled dot marking typology is raised over the road surface, usually around 3-4 mm. Recommended paint viscosity for dots is more than 8500 cp. To achieve the best results in road marking with dot equipment, Borum suggests keeping 15-20 dots/m quantity (length-wise). Demands for a 2-component (98:2) system to work effectively

When working with 2-component (98:2) systems, the hardener needs to be dozed in order to secure the proper mixing ratio as per material producers’ recipe. It ensures that the hardening process works out as per material configuration. If you have too much hardener, the reaction is too fast and strong (too much heat is generated), and the asphalt bitumen might color the line (yellow/brown pigments). If you have too little hardener, the line might stay soft or gets rubbery.
