The Florida Gators hired Jon Summerall to replace Billy Napier as the football head coach. Fans desperately wanted Lane Kiffin—as did LSU. Things didn’t work out with Kiffin and the Gators opted to go with former Tulane head coach Jon Sumrall.
Fans began revolting on social media—as they always do. The disappointment of not getting their “guy” made many Gator fans irate. Gators Athletic Director Scott Stricklin moved forward undeterred by popular opinion.
Sumrall had his opening press conference and began to change minds. At the same time, Lane Kiffin’s departure from Ole Miss began to unravel in true Kiffin fashion. Many in Gator Nation began to believe that the program dodged a huge bullet by losing out in the Kiffin sweepstakes.
