"Go Down, Moses" is an African American spiritual that doubly refers to the Israelites' enslavement and desired escape from the Egyptians and the U.S. heinous acts of enslavement and the desired escape from the enslavers. Here, I improvise on the tune with jazz chords and syncopated rhythms punctuating the phrases.
Performed by Pamela Ruiter-Feenstra on the Richards, Fowkes & Co. organ, Op. XXII (2016) at Village Presbyterian Church, Prairie Village, Kansas. Recording Engineer: Nathan Bliss; Assistant: Dr. Elisa Bickers.
