Major Russia sanctions waived by Trump after new law takes effect | World News Tonight

Описание: Our stories tonight:

U.S. President Donald Trump has signed an official order waiving major sanctions outlined in the Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia Act, dealing a major blow to Ukraine in its war effort. The bill, which after a year of intense deliberations was signed into law only a month ago, no longer targets the Kremlin.

Russian attacks across Ukraine have killed civilians, wounded dozens and left more than a million people temporarily without power, as emergency crews responded to strikes on homes, shopping centers and energy infrastructure. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says Kyiv is stepping up its counteroffensive in retaliation, as repeated drone threats disrupt air travel across Moscow.

While attacks across Ukraine continue, the fear of what’s to come during wintertime is sparking unrest in the country’s capital, Kyiv. Swaths of locals gathered in front of the city council to call for Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko’s resignation as the city struggles to ensure access to basic utilities and shelters.
