Its back! Apologies for the brief hiccup. "Which Side Are You On?" is a song written in 1931 by activist Florence Reece, who was the wife of Sam Reece, a union organizer for the United Mine Workers in Harlan County, Kentucky. In light of recent events, for this cover I have changed the lyrics from Harlan County to LA County and the reference to J.H. Blair to "a scab for the boss, beware" (I did revise that from "a thug for Robert Iger" because finally I didn't like the forced rhyme, artistically), in solidarity with the writers and actors currently on strike. There have already been some prominent scabs on major platforms like TikTok making the reference throughout the song very relevant. Crossing the picket lines for a paycheck is unacceptable. It is akin to agreeing to dive underwater with an oxygen tank to sabotage a boat full of people on the verge of sinking who are attempting to take refuge on Bob Igers yacht just a few meters away. And then while they sink and drown, you may live a bit longer, but that oxygen (i.e. payout) won't last forever, and he isn't letting you on board either despite your betrayal. In the end we all drown unless we work together to demand what is rightfully ours.
