Creole is defined as “a mother tongue formed from the contact of two languages through an earlier pidgin stage.”
With that knowledge we present you with our brand new mini video series titled ‘Bahamian Creole 101.’ The purpose of this video project is to inform individuals who are outside of the culture on how to speak The Bahamian tongue which is heavily influenced by the English language. The other purpose is to eradicate the xenophobic dialogue surrounding the word “creole” for individuals who were born and raised into the culture.
In part four of the series titled “iv. Words & Phrases,” we explore a handful of cultural one liners that Bahamians use in everyday life to express feelings and to deal with a variety of scenarios. Sit back and enjoy the video.
