On a bitter winter day in 1934, Bombardier's young son Yvon fell critically ill with appendicitis. The roads were impassable, buried under feet of snow. No car, truck, or sleigh could make the journey to the hospital in time. The boy died in his father's arms, a victim of winter's isolation.
Devastated but determined, Bombardier retreated to his garage workshop. He had been tinkering with snow vehicle concepts for years, but now he had a mission: no other family should lose a child because winter made roads impassable.
