Bachelor Friends on First Trek

Описание: We decided to go on our first trek with just our bachelor friends. None of us could settle on a date, so everything was rushed. With no prior trekking experience and completely unprepared, we initially planned to keep it simple and head to Ghandruk and return back. However, we wanted to make the most out of the trip so we switched to the Ghorepani route, still aiming to complete it in four days—a foolish idea—and ultimately couldn’t finish the Ghorepani to Ghandruk stretch for the same reason.

The jeep from Pokhara dropped us off at Tikhe Dhunga (as the road to Bhanthanti was damaged and not maintained due to landslides), 6 km before our planned starting point. Google Maps wasn’t very helpful as it didn’t show walking trails, but @maps.me indicated the distance to Ghorepani was 18 km. Believe it or not, it took us over 24 km. By the time we arrived, it was pitch dark, and we had to walk through a dense forest. Sudden rain had made the path slippery; the stone steps were treacherous, and our shoes and socks were completely soaked since we couldn’t tell if we were stepping into water or not. We were constantly juggling between saving batteries for flashlights, checking maps, and worrying about the possibility of encountering animals. Thankfully, we met some fellow trekkers who joined us, making it slightly easier. Finally, we reached our booked hotel at 8 PM, completely exhausted and on the verge of giving up.
