Hathras sexual assault survivor pleads for justice after her father was shot for lodging complaint

In a video statement posted on Twitter, Hathras Superintendent of Police Vineet Jaiswal said that the man who died had filed a case against Gaurav Sharma for molestation in July 2018. “After a month in prison, the perpetrator was released on parole. Both families have been hostile to each other since then.” Since September, when four upper-caste men raped and brutally assaulted a Dalit woman, Hathras has been in the headlines. She died a fortnight later in New Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital from her injuries.
