The Lummi Nation Blackhawks defeated Tulalip Heritage 61-56 on Saturday to repeat as WIAA 1B Boys State Champions.
The Blackhawks and the Hawks battled back and forth early, with Lummi Nation winning the first quarter before Tulalip Heritage surged before halftime. The Hawks scored 20 points in the second quarter, highlighted by Jaylan Gray hitting a half-court buzzer-beater to take a 31-26 lead into halftime.
Lummi Nation stormed back in the third and fourth quarters, outscoring Tulalip Heritage 35-25 in the second half to claim the title and the five-point win.
The game featured nine lead changes and nine ties.
The matchup marked the fifth meeting between the teams this season, with Lummi Nation completing a 5-0 sweep of its rival.
The Blackhawks were led by three double-digit scorers: Jerome Toby with 26 points, Dyson Edwards with 12, and Landon LaFontaine adding 11.
Tulalip Heritage was led by Gray’s 21 points, Tayari Archibald’s 15, and Davien Parks’ 12.
