As of the time of this review, this game has an 8.30 rating average and is ranked at top 94 of all time. This means that it is ranked higher than other big name moeges like Aokana, Kinkoi, Ginharu, and even Nukitashi 2, and a lot higher than yuzusoft's second best game Sanoba Witch. While I expect the rating to slowly drop over time once non-yuzusoft fans start picking this up, Limelight Lemonade Jam does deserve the status of the best yuzu game of all time, though not by a wide margin.
Art: I rarely comment on anything other than the writing when it comes to VNs, but yuzusoft's art team just gets better with every release. Sure, most companies know how to draw cute girls - but yuzusoft somehow manages to depict heroines at their most beautiful moment, and make you fall in love with them again. Rating: Literally carries the entire company/10
Music: Again, I don't really comment on BGM, but this time we've also got Lemonade Factory (the in game band)'s music so I'll be more critical: I can see why they picked Ena's seiyuu, but her vocal is weak and doesn't really fit. Other than that, their songs are decent for a game about music and you will probably like one or two songs after the game. My personal favorites are 放光酸化 and RGB. Rating: 7.5/10
Routes, in the order that I played them:
Common: The whole youthful vibe of building a band and overcoming difficulties with your friends is exactly what I came here for (especially at the end of chapter 1, which made me cheer out loud), definitely a lot more relatable than having superpowers or becoming a demon lord. You'll spend most of the time with the band and get to know their backstories. Unfortunately because of this, side heroines have way less screen time compared to their previous works. Rating: 9/10
Tsukimi: Easily the best route. (Sakaki Kasa simp incoming) Sakaki Kasa is really good at writing dialogue that's both natural and fun, while also slowly pushing the story forward. Combine that with yuzusoft's god-tier heroines and we've got ourselves a near perfect route. In fact, I'd say that the writer had way more freedom than usual, which led to probably the most un-yuzusoft route you'll ever read: other heroines have a big presence and don't just disappear, lots of side characters, a really long relationship build up from the start of the route towards the confession, Tsukimi dropping her signature ecchi reaction, etc. This route also had what I'd consider to be the best VN confession scene of all time, and managed to add more depth to Tsukimi's character. If not for the lackluster ending this would be an easy 10. Rating: 9.5/10
Anju: Who would have thought that the cool Nabari-san who always wears flashy outfits with purple highlights at your part-time job could be this cute? The relationship development leading up to the confession could have been better, but seeing Anju blush every time I tease her back straight up gave me diabetes. Rating: 8/10
Miku/Nayuka: Typical side heroine treatment. They both didn't have enough screentime in common, their confession scene was abrupt and did not have enough build up, very few CGs, ending is okay but doesn't really expand upon the character. Serviceable routes but far from good. Rating: 6.5/10
Ririko: I feel mixed about this one. On one hand, the back and forth between the MC and Ririko realizing their feelings about each other were very sweet. On the other hand, they really didn't know what to do with her character post confession, since their relationship back when they were friends were already so close that it's hard to feel any difference when they love each other. Ririko herself is a really good heroine though, she feels like Amane but with less mesugaki and no incest, so I'll give her route a Rating: 7.5/10
Ena: Biggest disappointment. For a supposedly reserved character, she does a lot of outrageous things that cannot simply be explained by her being an airhead. I just don't think whoever wrote this route had any idea what her character is supposed to be. The whole situation around her mother and the way they decided to deal with that was even more stupid. Guess I'll just look at the final CG and makeup my own fanfic of my journey with Ena (art team hard carrying here again)... Rating: 5/10
Graduation: There was so much more that could have been written here that would have wrapped this game up with a very high note. Well at least yuzusoft knew that this game needed a true end, so 8/10.
In conclusion: This is still a yuzusoft game after all, so just don't go in with high expectations and you'll be good.
