Sunday Morning Hiking | Lost and Found | Monteros Hill, Sleeping Indian | 1 February 2026

Описание: This Sunday morning, we moved early—as we always do at this time of year—setting out on a hike that turned out to be both lost and found in the best way possible. Our route took us across Monteros Hill, along its ridgeline through York Hill, and onward to Sleeping Indian, also known locally as Jumby Hill. These are the colloquial names given to the hills and ridges that divide Bermudian Valley Division from New Division to the north, stretching across Hermitage and toward Five Islands Harbour.

We started from Ebenezer, just west of Jennings Secondary School, climbing steadily up to Monteros Hill. From there, we followed the trail along the ridge toward Sleeping Indian, where the path slowly descended into a small gap that links Yorks (now Hermitage Road) down toward Seafort Beach.

Along the way, we were completely immersed in some of the most gorgeous views this trail has to offer. Looking east, we took in Green Castle Hill, Green Castle Pasture, and Big Creek, with sweeping views of McNish Mountain, Blubber Valley, and Christian Valley, stretching all the way to Boggy Peak, Rock Peak, and Bat Mountain in the distance.

Below us, Ebenezer and Jennings Village unfolded beautifully, with clear views of the main amenities—Jennings School and Cedar Hall Moravian Church—all framed in truly picturesque scenery. As we moved westward along the trail, the landscape opened up even more, revealing Bolans Village and Jolly Harbour, captured in a dynamic range that made every step worth it.

This hike was, without question, an enjoyable and unforgettable journey—completed in just under two hours, but leaving memories that will last far longer.
