My own attempt at creating a cohesive 1974 LP out of the handful of songs The Beach Boys recorded at the Caribou Ranch (and elsewhere) during that year, filled out with a few early-70s leftovers that fit in with the "getting away from the city" vibe of much of the material. Side One is sequenced as a suite, book-ended by the Out In The Country theme and imagining the band having an outdoor Beach Boys Party down on the farm with friends (hence the Stephen Kalinich lead vocal on Lucy Jones, which actually comes from an unfinished project he and Brian were working on at the time). Even the dreaded Battle Hymn Of The Republic somehow justifies its inclusion in this context, its bouncy rhythm and banjo continuing the feel of the preceding tracks. Side Two is also partially sequenced as a suite, out of necessity due to the rough beginnings and endings of these unfinished tracks, before concluding with two low-key tracks and a brief reprise of Side One's theme.
