How long does grief last?

Because we have that idea that grief is a problem to be solved, we think that eventually you have to finish grieving so that you can get on with living the rest of your life a happy person.

This means friends & family (and therapists!) sometimes offer well meaning but unhelpful support. It also means grieving people might think they’re doing grief wrong if they don’t feel better fast enough.

Grief lasts as long as love lasts.
