Decidueye is the last of the Alolan Starters I have to cover, unfortunately Decidueye is the weakest link of the trio, maybe tied with Primarina, both just being not too impressive. However I definitely think either have potential and could be piloted to success in the hand of the correct team. Decidueye has an unimpressive hidden ability so we're opting to use its regular ability Overgrow, which is also not amazing. However while Overgrow is active with Choice Band and STAB Leaf Blade you can deal a LOT of damage (especially with a CRIT which has a higher chance due to Leaf Blade's secondary effect). Decidueye has solid stats across the board and a fairly strong move pool littered with good STAB moves for both Physical and Special sets. It has access to Leaf Blade, Leaf Storm, Spirit Shackle, Phantom Force, and Shadow Sneak. It also has solid coverage moves like Low Sweep, U-Turn, Sucker Punch, Knock-Off and Brave Bird. Decidueye isn't necessarily bad, it's just overshadowed with potentially better Pokemon that fill similar roles. In Singles it fills a similar role with the added benefit of blocking Rapid Spin. Also we opted to use a Special set including Nasty Plot to make Decidueye deal huge damage, as well as Synthesis for recovery. Overall I think Decidueye is interesting and may see some play in both VGC & Singles. As always if you like this kind of content like and subscribe!
