Part 1 of a 3 part tutorial series called "WorldCreation Environment Concept Art with 3D Matte Painting Techniques". I recorded this tutorial almost 10 years ago in 2014, therefore a lot of the techniques are out of date or just not common anymore. However, I think a lot of the overarching ideas and workflows, how to approach a piece like this, still apply and I thought it would be worth sharing here for everyone to enjoy.
Part 1 covers the process in 3D with modeling, shading and lighting. I go over vegetation creation techniques and setting up render passes that help the paint over process.
