Dominant Pro TI Violin Strings Long Term Review

I’ve been playing these strings since February 2021.

Overall I find these strings dark, focused, quite powerful, it’s a sound that fils the room. I’d encourage you with experiment with different E’s which I find they have a lot of purity of color. I did notice that these strings feels slightly harder under the finger compared to regular Dominants or other strings. That does not bothers me.

Thomastik also was kind enough to send me the other options they offer with this set and here are some thoughts about the other strings in this line.

DP01 TIN E - The standard E that comes with the set, it works well, barely whistles and it’s well balanced.

DP01AU Gold - It’s their gold plated E. It’s my favorite from all the Dominant Pro’s E’s I’ve tried and I’ve used it in the recording you’re hearing along with this video. It’s clear, warm and brilliant. It works very well for my style of playing and instrument.

DP01PT Platinum - Plated with Platinum, greatest projection from all the options. It offers more resistance to bow pressure, very brilliant!

DP01SN TIN - It’s the warmest sounding E out of all 4 options also it has the lowest tension which balances differently the rest of the strings in the set resulting in a increased sound radiance.

DP02B Steel Chrome - Very fast response A, high dynamic range, very rich sounding for a steel core string.

DP03 and DP03A are the two D string flavors offered by this line. The Silver wound makes this D powerful with a great deal of modulation capacity. The Aluminum is more brilliant sounding, is slightly larger diameter, a more direct response.
