After our rescue at sea and losing our mast, this day felt huge.
Today, for the first time since everything went wrong, our boat is finally standing tall again.
Before that moment, our year started underwater in New Caledonia — swimming with green sea turtles in crystal-clear lagoons. These turtles travel thousands of kilometres across the ocean just to return home, and somehow that felt like the reminder we needed.
Of course, boat life never makes it easy. Alongside putting the mast back up came broken gear, long days, a dead windlass, and the kind of problems you only get when you live on a boat.
This is what rebuilding after a rescue really looks like — fixing boats in exotic locations, one challenge at a time.
