8 members of a family, including children were killed after a fire triggered by an EV charging explosion engulfed a three-storey house in Indore earlier today.
Police said the blaze began when a car being charged outside the house exploded, with flames rapidly spreading inside. Cooking gas cylinder blasts further intensified the fire, while electronic locks delayed rescue efforts.
PM Narendra Modi expressed grief and announced ex gratia compensation for the victims’ families. The state government has ordered a detailed probe and will frame safety SOPs for EV charging to prevent such incidents.
