This is how I deal with the difference in spring length when replacing springs in 43mm Showa forks. Pretty much any aftermarket spring you buy to replace an OEM spring will be a different length to the original.
The only instance I know of where you can buy various rate springs that drop in is for Ohlins forks, where they generally have a specific spring series for a fork series, and you can buy any spring from that series and it'll be the same length and od, just different rate - #04744 and 04745 for example.
These are 916 forks (the outer tube is 53mm at both triple clamp points), which have the lower spacer tube under the spring as std.
The 43mm SS / M / ST forks (the outer tube is 50mm at the upper triple clamp point and 54mm at the lower triple clamp point) don't have the lower spacer tube under the spring as std. So you need to add it and a washer to suit. I use washers from Teknik: 38.8mm od x 28.6mm id x 3mm thick -

There will be another video for the 41mm Showa forks to come. They require another upper preload tube to be made.

If you wish to ask a question about this video, please start with specific info about what you're asking. Model and year at the very least. If you make me guess, I'll not bother.
I do Ducati only, so no point asking a Honda question.
Please don't ask irrelevant questions if you want a response. If you have a tech question on a different topic, email me.
