Triple Doubles use to be held in high regard. Leaving the court with double digit stat lines in three categories would get you praise for a few days. In the NBA playoffs posting a triple double will always be remembered by fans.

For some reason when Russell Westbrook posts staggering stat lines it as seen as "Selfish basketball" or "Stat Padding". Even with a 74.7 win percentage when Brodie posts a triple double his critics will say that his style of play doesn't produce wins.

The man has played with Bradley Beal, Kevin Durant and Paul George helping them all achieve their career high in points playing alongside Westbrook, not to mention James Harden and his second career high average. Mix this with the fact that he has had 5 seasons of double digit assists, 3 of which allowed him to win the assist title but some how Russell Westbrook is a selfish player. Russ has had more career assists than Rajon Rondo, Tony Parker and Bob Cousy, who were all known as facilitators and still gets no recognition. At this point it is painfully obvious that there is nothing Westbrook can do moving forward to kill these narratives.

Meanwhile players like Steph Curry can lead the league in scoring because he takes 13 three pointers a game and it is considered good basketball and smart for the team. Westbrook posts triple doubles to help get ALL of his teams and rosters into the playoffs and gets ridiculed. Where as other point guards like Stephen Curry can't consistently will his team into the playoffs.
