The Interlaced Herringbone Insertion Stitch is used to connect two panels of fabric. The result is both decorative and functional, and uses a woven technique that seems complicated but once mastered, yields beautiful results.
The interlaced stitch is worked on a base of double herringbone stitch.

Part 1    • Interlaced herringbone insertion tutorial ...   shows the technique for the double herringbone stitch.
Part 2 shows the interlacing thread that is woven through the double herringbone base.

I used blue thread to make it easier to show the pattern of the interlaced stitch, but experiment with a thread you love (white thread on white fabric would produce an exquisitely delicate insertion stitch).
