Myanmar’s military government is set to convene a new planning parliament session after the military-backed Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) declared a landslide victory in the country’s latest election.
The three-phase vote was held between December 2025 and January 2026, but major opposition parties were barred from participating, including the National League for Democracy (NLD).
The NLD is led by jailed former leader Aung San Suu Kyi, who has been detained since the military seized power in 2021.
