York, a city known for its rich history, architecture and many pubs, is also home to some great Vegan food.

Located on George Hudson street you will find The Orchid which serves Asian Fusion food.

The menu has a large range of soups, starters, main dishes and sides. Everything you would expect from a high quality Asian restaurant including a number of different plant based meat substitutes.

Amongst the dishes we tried were the aromatic shredded Vegan duck, Crispy shredded vegan beef and sweet & sour king prawn.

It is simply an incredible restaurant if you want authentic tasting Vegan Asian cuisine. We honestly enjoyed every dish we ordered. The staff were also friendly and prompt. We really can’t recommend this restaurant enough.

Located on Gillygate Doner Summer is heaven for those looking for some delicious Vegan Junk food.

They have an extensive menu consisting of Vegan burgers, kebabs and loaded fries.

During our visit we tried the buttermylk fried ch*kin, korean bbq 2.0 kebab and the bad girl doner kebab.

All the food we ordered we fresh, colourful and finger licking good, without any cruelty.

On Church street, a stones throw from the famous shambles is the Double Dutch Pancake House. Whilst not a 100% Vegan restaurant they serve a large range of gluten-free and vegan pancakes including many options to customise your pancakes.

We started with a couple smoothies, the Hulk and the tropical before moving onto the pancakes. Our daughter had the children's facon pancake with maple syrup.
We had the amsterdamer which was with facon and apple with stroop syrup which had a light apple flavour.

We also tried a savoury pancake the FREE RANGER which Vegan chicken, mushrooms and vegan cheese with added olives, which was also very good.

The pancakes were dutch style and freshly made.

Oh and we also had the Vegan frankenshake, which was Chocolate milkshake with vegan ice cream topped with vegan cream, party rings, Jammy Dodger, rainbow drops and chocolate sauce! Simply divine.

And finally on Fossgate is the Remedy Coffee shop, a sustainable business serving hot drinks and more wholefood style Vegan dishes.

We ordered the pasta, a bean burger and roasted sprouts and onions on delicious sourdough bread.

This is a great place to visit if you fancy some healthier vegans options.

We really loved our visit to York and would love to come back in the future. We learnt so much about the City’s history from Roman ghosts, the birth of Guy Fawkes and all the way up to modern day. We also enjoyed some amazing Vegan food during our visit.
