$435,000,000 MILLION defamation [Nunes vs. CNN] complaint filed

In this video Attorney Steve® discusses the recently filed lawsuit by California House of Representatives member Daniel Nunes vs. Cable News Network (aka “CNN”). Here, he seeks over $435 million dollars in damages for alleged defamation.

As CNN is a “media defendant” this case will likely raise (for my great law students out there), the New York Times v. Sullivan “actual malice standard.” This means, the Plaintiff will have to PROVE that Defendant (CNN) had knowledge of the falsity of the statements they made, or reckless disregard of the truth. Also, damages must also be established to have a worthwhile defamation lawsuit.
