SHAOLIN WHIP

The whip of the Shaolin monks is 2.5 m long and consists of four parts, the handle: of the length of a forearm, is rigid and has a slot to secure the wrist. Above the hole is a red clump, which hides the hand. At the bottom of the weapon dangle two flakes similar to those of the straight sword, one red and one yellow, to distract the opponent's view from the weapon action. The body of whip is made of leather, and snake-shaped, progressively finer towards the tip of the weapon, where there is a section of rope nilon 50 cm. with frayed end. In combat, the whip Mù-yáng-biān takes to hit the opponent, to envelop his legs, his arms or his weapons, to strangle him, tie him or thrown down from his horse. The whistle and pop of the gun also act as psychological deterrent.

FRUSTA SHAOLIN

La frusta dei monaci Shaolin è lunga 2,5 m. ed è costituita da quattro parti, l'impugnatura della lunghezza di un avambraccio è rigida e possiede un'asola per assicurare il polso. Sopra l'asola si trova un ciuffo rosso che nasconde la mano. In fondo all'arma penzolano due fiocchi simili a quelli della spada dritta, uno rosso e uno giallo, per distrarre la vista dell'avversario dall'azione dell'arma. Il corpo della frusta è di cuoio e a forma di serpente, progressivamente più fine verso la punta dell'arma, dove è presente una sezione di corda di nilon di 50 cm. sfilacciata all'estremità. In combattimento la frusta Mù-yáng-biān serve per colpire l'avversario, per avviluppare le sue gambe, le sue braccia o le sue armi, per strangolarlo, legarlo o disarcionarlo da cavallo. Il fischio e lo schiocco dell'arma agiscono anche da deterrente psicologico.
