Nuclear shell model is similar to the shell model of the atom i.e., like electrons nucleons also have shells and subshells and each nucleon occupies a well-defined energy level.
Each shell is described as the energy level where particles having the same energy exists.
In the shell model each nuclei in the nucleus is considered as a single particle that moves independently to the other nucleons.
