4. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Ghazwan Arrar, protester:
“Well indeed, al Quds Day in the last Friday has been received by the Islamic world, especially the Iraqi people and it shows a message that is far from being a political message. It is a humanity and a principle message that al Quds is presented in the heart of every human who has conscience and humanity.”

It is an attack that targets Islam in the core, whether it was in Iran or Iraq. Therefore, we openly declare from here that we remain committed to the pact.”

STORYLINE:
Hundreds of Iraqis marked Jerusalem Day, also known as Quds Day, in Baghdad on Friday to show support for the Palestinian and Iranian people.
Members and supporters of Shia militias in Iraq marched through the capital to mark the event, which is observed each year on the last Friday of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
Al-Quds is the Arabic name for Jerusalem, the contested city at the heart of the Israeli Palestinian conflict.
Jerusalem is the home of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, the third holiest shrine in Islam.
Quds Day, or Jerusalem Day, is a day of protest to show support for the Palestinians, which has been held on the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan since the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
