DIY No Drill Trolling Motor on Kayak | Feelfree Lure 11.5

Описание: Got this idea from a guy on a Facebook Group ( Thanks Corey!), and decided it was the best route for me to mount a trolling motor on my kayak. Doing a no drill mount was a big thing for me, and it ended up working great. Here's a little more detail on how I did it!

1. I used perforated steel tubing from Menard's and cut the first piece down to length to fit crossways across my uni-track in the rear.
2. I purchased the Yak Attack Feelfree track adapters on Amazon and used a 5/16" bolt to run through the adapter and the first piece of perforated tubing. I did have to drill out the hole in the track adapter just a bit, you could use a slightly smaller bolt.
3. I cut three pieces of steel tubing to length to fit from the tubing on the track to just past the hole in the back of the kayak(rudder mount hole?) and mounted those three below the cross ways tubing with bolts and lock nuts.
4. I cut two pieces of tubing that I would use to mount the Quick Connect mount.
5.. I figured out how I would get my Minn Kota Quick Connect mount to line up with the steel tubing. I did have to offset it just a bit, so it is not perfectly centered. Also, I could only get 3 holes to line up so I needed to drill an extra hole in the tubing. One nut/bolt was interfering with having my entire mount to sit flush, so on the bottom tubing I drilled out a much bigger hole so I was able to fit the nut inside the tubing.
5. I now cut a smaller piece of tubing to run cross ways between my three pieces of tubing that ran to the back of my kayak. This would also be the piece of tubing that I ran my long bolt(6") through to go through the rudder hole. I put shorter bolts and lock nuts on each side of the long bolt to hold it all together.

That completed my mount, now to get to the details of the trolling motor.

1. I cut down the shaft enough where I was able to still use my milk crate behind my seat. I very carefully used a PVC pipe cutter and finished off what I couldn't get with a hacksaw. Be VERY careful that you do not nick the wires inside of the shaft. I recommend pulling the head of the shaft before you do this.
2.Now that I had my shaft cut down, I had quite a bit of excess wire. I was able to fit the excess in the head itself.
3. The last step for the trolling motor was drilling two holes to mount the head back on the shaft. It was a little difficult to get it lined up but I was able to make it work.

Now that I had all the engineering done, the last steps were connecting my wire quick connecters and the battery and testing it out!
