Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) Party President Jimmy James Akena has strongly condemned what he describes as widespread irregularities during the 2026 General Elections. Speaking at a press conference held at the party headquarters, Akena criticized the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) government on presiding over an electoral process that lacks transparency.
Akena further challenged continued criticism of former President Milton Obote’s leadership arguing that the conduct of the 2026 elections has exposed deeper flaws than those historically attributed to Obote’s government. He declared that he will no longer remain silent as he believes his father’s legacy is being misrepresented adding that he will not be forced into exile for speaking what he calls the truth.
