There are some changes to the way gems work in New World. These changes are coming with New World Season 4 Eternal Frost, and are currently on the new world PTR. The gem conversions are changing to be a flat 50 /50 across the board and the attribute scaling for the gems is changing drastically. This should provide for some great build diversity. This video explains exactly how the New World gem conversions will work.
