In this lecture, we investigate one of the most important potential wells in all of quantum mechanics -- quantum harmonic oscillator (QHO) -- and explore how to compute its energy levels and corresponding eigenstates via the algebraic approach involving ladder operators (i.e. creation and annhilation operators). In particular, we show to recover the energy eigenvalues and eigenstates in terms of Hermite polynomials and Gaussians
