In this video, we’ll walk through each step to help you create your own unique and cozy piece. This project is perfect if you're just starting out with crochet or if you're looking for an easy yet satisfying blanket pattern that features the timeless charm of sunflowers.
Materials:
Coffee Yarn (Center)
Cafe Latte Yarn
Yellow Yarn
Light Green Yarn
White Yarn
3.5 mm Hook
Scissors
Stitch Marker
The center of the sunflower (Coffee), the outer ring (Cafe Latte), the petals (Yellow), and the outer layer (Light Green).
White can be used to connect the squares together and make the scallop border, which is optional. This is just a suggested color scheme!
I crocheted each square measures about 3.7 in x 3.7 in.
To make a standard 50 inch x 60 inch throw blanket, you will need about 200 squares. (If you hook loosely, 4-5 inches per square, the total number of squares will be about 180.)
I used Milk cotton yarn (60% cotton + 40% acrylic) which is a medium yarn in colors Coffee (center), Cafe Latte, Yellow ,White and Light Green, each weigh about 50g per roll.
In the video, I’ll guide you through each part of the process, starting from creating the center of the sunflower and moving outward to form the petals, leaves, and squares. We'll then look at how to connect the squares to create a seamless, finished blanket. I also share tips for joining the granny squares and achieving a neat and uniform look, which is essential for creating a beautiful, professional-looking piece.
This tutorial is designed to be easy to follow, even if you’re picking up a crochet hook for the first time. I’ve made sure to explain every stitch slowly and clearly, so you can work at your own pace. Whether you're crocheting for yourself or creating a gift, this sunflower granny square blanket will surely bring warmth and joy. So grab your yarn, hook, and settle in for a fun, rewarding crochet session!
Thank you for joining me, and I hope this project brings you as much happiness as it did for me. Happy crocheting!
