Historic U.S.–Liberia Meeting Sparks Global Interest — Canadian Charity Urges: “Let’s Turn Headlines Into Hope”

TORONTO, CANADA — July 10, 2025 — As Liberia takes center stage in global headlines following this week’s high-profile meeting between the Presidents of Liberia and the United States in Washington, D.C., one Canadian-based charity is encouraging the world not just to watch—but to act.

Hope For Liberia, a Christian humanitarian organization founded in 2019, has been serving the Liberian people through local programs focused on widows, orphans, and young men recovering from addiction and life on the streets.

“We’re encouraged to see Liberia receiving international attention,” says Joe Amaral, founder of Hope For Liberia. “Diplomatic collaboration is a powerful starting point—but we believe this moment also opens the door for real, grassroots support to flood in for the people who need it most.”

As the world talks about the future of Liberia, Hope For Liberia is launching a campaign titled “While They Talk, We Act”—a movement to rally generous Canadians, Americans, and global supporters to invest in proven, life-transforming work already happening on the ground.

The charity is currently raising $100,000 to support:
• Food, shelter, and education for orphans and vulnerable children
• The drilling of life-giving wells to provide clean water for communities in need
• Rehabilitation and job creation for young men leaving life in the ghettos

Amaral adds, “We’ve walked the streets, cried with families, and celebrated victories in local communities. And now, with global eyes on Liberia, we have an opportunity like never before to rally support and bring lasting hope.”
