This Cal-MAP School ECHO session explores autism spectrum disorder, helping school-based professionals better understand diagnosis, eligibility, and practical supports for students. Participants will gain insight into how autism presents in school settings and learn evidence-informed strategies to promote positive behavior and inclusive learning environments.
Learning Objectives:
1. Describe the similarities and differences between a medical diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder and special education eligibility criteria under autism
2. Identify common co-occurring conditions associated with autism and how they may impact student behavior
3. Describe evidence-informed strategies to promote effective behavior and support neurodiverse students
This session is designed for educators, school mental health professionals, administrators, and others working to create supportive, responsive learning environments for students with autism.
